SBC activities and results in 2023

Midwives and head nurse at the health center in Kafountine

In 2023, SBC mainly worked on further implementation and implementation
preparation of a number of projects in the Casamance,
together with local project leader Marie Desiree.
She is the head midwife and works in Diouloulou.

Some examples and highlights include:

The newly installed wash basins on the premises of the Satang Diabang school

Washbasin project at the Satang Diabang school in
Kafountine in the context of health lessons.

A meeting was held during SBC's working visit in November 2022
with the school management and the local task force about the health lessons.
It then turned out that there were toilets on the grounds of the Satang Diabang school,
but no sinks for washing hands yet.
Because general hygiene is also an important topic in the lessons,
it seemed like a good plan to make money available for this.
We received the attached letter in the spring of 2023
photos of the sinks that have now been installed.

Turbo scanners delivered

Inspection of the newly delivered scanners

Two Turbo scanners were delivered in November 2022
at the hospital and maternite ward in Diouloulou.
These scanners were mainly for improving
prenatal research among women in Diouloulou and in the surrounding villages.
Additional maintenance appeared to be required during 2023.
That's why November 2023 a small one
SBC delegation traveled again to the Casamance.
Both scans are now working optimally
and the midwives can fully use them.

Further discussions were also held with the local project leader,
Marie Desiree and her colleague, about the
preparations for a special training program
for four “matrons” from the surrounding villages.
These are the women who more or less care
for the prenatal care of local women,
but have no real education.
The intention is to give them more practical basic training and knowledge.
This will start in 2024 and last one year.
