The history of SBC…
SBC was re-established in Leiden on 8 March 2021 by Pauline de la Court, Annette de la Court and Patricia Pol.
All board members and volunteers.
It started with this trio, but in the course of 2021 Anneke Dijkmans
will start as a prospective board member. There is currently one vacancy.
More than 25 years ago, Pauline de la Court had founded the predecessor of the current SBC,
but this foundation was dissolved some years ago.
The reason was that most of the planned primary health care projects had been completed
and there was insufficient enthusiasm at that time to develop new projects..
In early 2020, just before the outbreak of the Covid pandemic,
was visited again after many years to the Casamance
Of course, all old acquaintances, friends and colleagues were
visited Kafountine and Diouloulou.
Especially from the midwives, new bottlenecks were put forward in their field of work,
requiring action and support.
This resulted in a new project plan and ultimately the re-establishment of the foundation.
The initiative has also been taken again to collaborate with, among others,
the board of L'école Satang Diabang, a training center for
girls and young women in Kafountine.
